For the final week of the quarter, our senior class will be working on developing a resume for Beowulf as well as one for themselves.

  • Complete Personal Resume Reflection Activity
  • Begin working on Personal Resume

  • Personal Resume is due Wednesday.

Sorry, Mrs. Hirzel has been a little behind in updating her website.  Here is what we did last week as a class.  
  • Teacher lectured using the Beowulf PowerPoint
  • Students read The Prologue,  Canto 1 and 2 individually
  • Teachers and students looked at Grendel PowerPoint to view different interpretations of Grendel
  • Students watched a clip of the most modern interpretation of Grendel from the 2007 version of Beowulf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWmiv9uIXQk
  • Students were asked to draw Grendel (10 pts)
  • Students and Teacher read the rest of Beowulf  out loud in textbook as a class.
  • Students completed Blue Box Questions for all parts of the poem (either individually or in groups)
  • Over the weekend, students were asked to write a reflection on a quote found in Beowulf.  
  • Students also must have their Independent Reading Book brought in by Wednesday.

  • Due tomorrow, students must write two Anglo-Saxon riddles that creatively personify objects.  They must be 6-8 sentences each.

  • Students will work in groups and go over 1a-3b of "The Wife's Lament" and Anglo-Saxon Riddles
  • Students will work in groups over 4a-5b for both selections
  • Teacher will help students in small groups and help with comprehension and analysis of texts
