  • Thematic Discussion & Quick Write:  what does it mean to grow up?  What does it mean to be an adult?  What does it mean to be a child?  How do people approach the journey of growing up?  Is it a quest?  
  • Discuss examples from literature that could be considered “coming of age stories”
  • Are coming of age stories ALWAYS about children growing up…could it be adults as well?  Examples?
Homework:

  • Due Tomorrow: 200 response on Website over how The Kite Runner answers thematic questions (if something happens (you can’t log on)  just print it out in MLA for class on Thursday)

  • Went over AP Exam.  We viewed a AP Exam PowerPoint which gives a quick overview of the basics of the  exam.  I also handed out Test Samples.  Check the missed work file in Mrs. Hirzel's classroom for the samples if you are absent.

  • Due Thursday (tomorrow):  Writing Sample:  Write a 2-3 typed page paper focusing on one aspect of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and how it connects with a chapter/concept from How to Read Literature like a Professor.   You should try your best to stay focused and organized.  Please use examples from the text to support your thesis (your main point).  For help, look over the ap resources section.
  • Next Friday(9/7/12):  Quiz over Wicked Word Wall Vocabulary
