Hello, ladies and gentlemen!

Welcome to your first day of Senior Year!  This is such an exciting time in your lives, and I am proud to be a part of it!  I, too, am excited to start off the year, and to help you on your journey towards college  and a career.   This year, we will read some of the most famous texts  of all time as well as prepare you for the AP Test.  Another major focus of this year is to ensure that you are prepared to write at the college level.  We will discuss the difference between college and high school writing as well as consistently writing throughout the course.

Please, take some time to get acquainted with this website.  The course objectives sheet (which was handed out in class) will always appear in the top right.  You can download aMicrosoft 2003 version anytime to check policies and expectations throughout the year.  Please, also take a look at the resources page.  It includes some of my favorite sites to help you throughout the year.

This blog will serve multiple purposes.  I will update this everyday by the end of the school day.  Through this  blog:
  1.  You or your parents/ guardians can contact me at anytime if you have questions or concerns.
  2. You will see up-to-date information on what we have done in class, as well as what is for homework.
  3. You can check out the resources page which includes homework help as well as websites to help you write in this class.
  4. If you are absent from class,  you can download the handouts you missed, as well as receive instructions on your homework.
  5. Sometimes, I will post videos, articles, or other supplemental resources that I will ask you to read or write on for homework.

HOMEWORK:
DUE THURSDAY:  Writing Sample:  Write a 2-3 typed page paper focusing on one aspect of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and how it connects with a chapter/concept from How to Read Literature like a Professor.   You should try your best to stay focused and organized.  Please use examples from the text to support your thesis (your main point).  For help, look over the ap resources section.
